Final Instructions – The Francis Family Trial
Saturday 20th September 2025
Please read these instructions before you travel and check your emails and the Waltham Chase Website in case there are any last-minute changes before the start.

Venue Address and Driving Instructions.
Bunny Lane, Sherfield English, SO51 6FT. This post code gets you close to the venue, then look out for arrows directing you to FLOORTRAK – an industrial unit at the venue.
The most accurate location is What3Words: https://w3w.co/smothered.secondly.pints This directs you straight to the venue Car Park.
· The gates will open at 9.00am.
· The Burger Van is confirmed and is open for breakfasts from 9.30am
· If you are a Waltham Chase Club Member or have previously been issued with a Waltham Chase rider number, please provide a “Number Card” for your bike, with the “Club Riding Number” and the route colour for your class. You can request a route colour sticker at “Sign-On”
· If you are not a Waltham Chase member or have entered after 8.00am on Friday 19th September, a number card will be issued at “Sign-On”. (The number will be in the series 800)
· There is no “Formal Briefing Session” at the start but please check the notice board for any updates.
· A “Section Map” will be displayed at the start.
· From 10.20 start to move to the “ENTRY TO COURSE”
· The sections will open at 10.30 am.
· The Pit Marshall will advise you where to start.
· The sections will close at 3.00.pm or before if all riders have completed the sections.
· Please ride the sections only once at each visit to keep the trial flowing, to ensure that you do not benefit or be penalised from terrain changes and to make sure you do not miss a section. (Exception only for Battery Powered Youth Riders and minders)
· The route is “One-Way,” marked with “Orange Arrows.”
· There are 4 laps of 10 sections.
· ACU rule TSR22a “Stop Allowed” apply at this Trial.
· There are no Male toilets at this venue.
· There is no formal break but stop at a convenient time for refreshments.
· A defibrillator is located at the “Sign-On” Desk.
· Please take all rubbish away with you. There is no rubbish collection point.
· It is prohibited to use power washers at this venue.
· If in any doubt of a section score, please check with the Observer before moving on to the next section.
· First Aiders will be wearing a green Tabard and listed on the Notice Board.
· Photographs taken at this event may be used in press articles or for promotional purposes, if you do not want your image to be used, please advise the COC or photographer.

The Francis Family Trial – Saturday 20th September at Bunny Lane – Start Time 10.30
The entry open on Sport80 for the “Francis Family Trial” being held at Bunny Lane, Sherfield English. This Trial is held in the memory of Ken and Mark Francis, with some of the awards for class winners being previously awarded to Ken or Mark.
Dave Penfold is our COC for this Trial.
The nominated charity for this Trial is Muscular Dystrophy

You could be running your first Trial before Christmas!
We are not able to run a Trial without a COC in place.
The Keith Marshall Shield.
A Classic Round of the Centre Championship – 5th October at Manor Farm.
The Keith Marshall is being held at Manor Farm, Langrish on Sunday 5th October. This event is primarily for Pre67, Twin Shock and Rigid Machines, however as a result of members requests there will also be Veteran, B, C and D classes for riders over 50 years of age on Modern Machines.
Please note that this Trial will be marked out for Classic Machines and riders, with a lot of work going into the preparation. In fact, the CoC and support team have already carried out the first site visit and planned the sections and special tests.

AGM and Defib Briefing Session – Wednesday 15th October
Advance notice:
The Club AGM is being held at The Ship In, Old Redbridge on Wednesday 15th October.
From 7.00pm there will be a familiarisation session with the Club’s new defib, for those who would like to find out how it works and how to use it.
A kind of two birds with one stone evening.
Full details will be sent to members in a week or so.
The ACU Ben Fund
Waltham Chase are donating the sum of £800.00 to the ACU Ben Fund. This is by way of revenue generated from the St Paul Trophy Trial along with odd cash that we have collected at various events including Dick Ramplee’s Dingbats Challenge at the Cadno Weekend.
Club Championship and Summer Series Championship.
Both the Club Championship and Summer Series points tables are now updated and uploaded to the results section of the Club Website.
There are a few positions that can change before the season ends.
