News - January 2021

Waltham Chase News

I guess we all saw the third lockdown coming, but possibly did not expect that it would be quite so severe.

As a result, all Waltham Chase events, including practice sessions are cancelled until further notice.

However, we are where we are, with the most important issue is the safety of all.

I guess there will be some very clean bikes when we are allowed out to play again!

The Dick Hoyles

We have provisional plans to reschedule the Dick Hoyle’s in April and will publish the date and venue as soon as we are 100% confident that it will take place. We do not want to get into the “entry cancellations” situation again.

Dates Calendar – 2021

Whilst we have already published a dates calendar for 2021 some dates are likely to change.

As long as we are up and running by the end of February, we will still be able to fit it in about 20 events, including several additional dates for Club Members at Hut Hill and Oakridge.

We also have eight “Open” Trials booked at other venues, luckily all later in the year.

Centre Championship

Its fingers crossed again for the Centre Championship. We will keep you updated, but as of today the IOW “Two Day” has been rescheduled for the 4th and 5th September and the Bridport & Weymouth West Trophy has been moved to the 12th September. It is also likely that the Alton date of the 4th April will either be cancelled or re-scheduled.

An updated Centre Calendar will be published later in the month.

Camping Weekend

There is something to look forward to –that is if you like Camping. We have our Camping Weekend booked for the 6th to 8th August, with the option of up to two additional nights. The weekend will be run under Natural England restrictions and will only be open to members of Waltham Chase MCC and must be pre-booked.

We will open bookings when we are confident it can take place.

Face Masks

We still have some Waltham Chase branded Face Masks/ Snoods available, as modelled on Facebook by Baz Evans. They are much easier to use than conventional face masks, even if they do make you look like a Bandit.

We had planned to have them available to purchase at the Trials which have now been cancelled, but we can post to members. The cost including postage is £6.00 for one or two for £10.00.

To order reply to this email with postal address. Payment details will be provided.

Club Membership.

Just a reminder that ACU Trials Registrations and Waltham Chase Club Memberships can be renewed online. Information can be found at:

Club AGM

As with most clubs we were unable to hold an AGM last year, and it is unlikely that we will be able to schedule one in the immediate future, but as soon as it is safe to do so we will organise. Until then we will carry on regardless.

However, the club is financially secure, despite recording an operating loss of over £900 for last year. This was due to Hut Hill land costs which were not compensated for by the holding events at the venue.

Bikes Wanted

We have members looking for a Beta 80 (Small and Big Wheel versions) and a reasonably priced 125. Email details of anything for sale and I will forward.

It is a bit of a minefield advertising in the Public Domain.
