News Update - 5th June 2025

The John Wright Trophy Trial – Lime Kiln Lane – Sunday 15th June.

Entry Link: https://acu.sport80.com/public/wizard/e/205292

This is our annual visit to Limekiln Lane, a great venue that we are only able to use once a year, with all natural downland sections and a long ride to the group of distant sections.

The Club will donate to Parkinsons UK after this Trial, and you may well see John’s daughter, Adrienne, with the “tin” at the Trial collecting your change to support the charity.

There will also be a raffle on the day, with all proceeds going to Parkinsons UK. Prizes will include Waltham Chase “Free Rides”, bottles, and various other prizes begged and scrounged from local businesses by Adrienne. Any donated prizes are very welcome and don’t forget to bring along some cash for your raffle tickets.

The fund-raising activities are fully endorsed by Parkinsons UK.!

As always offers to Observe are appreciated. Please contact walthamchasetrials@outlook.com if you can help.

Some Observers with bikes would be good for the distant sections.

At our “Open Trials” observers are provided with a free lunch in addition to the £20.00 expenses paid.

First Aid Training Course – Saturday 21st June

The Southern Centre are hosting a certificated First Aid Training Course on Saturday 21st June in Otterbourne. If this is something you would like to do?

If so, please register your interest by replying to this email. Places are limited, and if this course is oversubscribed the Club may run a further course later in the year.

We cannot underestimate how important it is to have people at Trials who know what to do in an emergency.

The George Greenland Trophy Trial – Manor Farm, Langrish – Sunday 22nd June.

(A round of The ACU Southern Centre Trials Championship)

For this Trial we would appreciate the help of a couple of local riders to help mark out on either Thursday 19th June or Saturday 21st June.

Please email walthamchasetrials@outlook.com if you are available.

And as always offers to Observe would be appreciated.

Member’s Question

Why two “Open Trials” back-to-back? – It was not our intention or in the original plan; we had to move the John Wright away from Easter Sunday at the request of the landowner and residents.

Club Members Practice Day – Hut Hill – Saturday 28th June.

Our next Club Members Practice Day is being held at Hut Hill on Saturday 28th June. The gates will be open from 10.00 for a 11.00 am. start and will close at 4.00pm.

Entry Link: https://acu.sport80.com/public/wizard/e/205703

Our Club Coach, Ian Bird, will be on site offering advice and support to new members.

Subject to the number of riders entering, Debs Food Truck will attend to keep you fed and watered. If you fancy a Burger and Coffee on the day, get your entry in ASAP.

Debs Food Truck

Debs will be making a small increase to some items over the next few weeks to cover rising costs. A new generator was also purchased for the “Truck” last week at a cost of over £4k – that’s a lot of cups of coffee you need to sell!

A burger van is part of the “Trials Experience” – please support our caterers whenever you can- even if just a coffee.

For me a Sunday is not a Sunday without the chicken wrap!

Clerk Of Course Seminar

To run and manage an ACU permitted event you need to hold a current Clerk Of Course Licence. It’s a rewarding role, but with responsibilities, and is very satisfying when you run a successful event.

If we have any members who would like to be considered for next Seminar being held on November 1st locally, please reply to this email.

The commitment required is to run and manage at least one Waltham Chase Trial in 2026. Applications are welcome from both male and female members. Your licence gives you the credentials required to manage any ACU Trial, not just for Waltham.
